Bloom Energy

Bloom Energy's solid oxide fuel cells run at 800C on zirconia-based ceramics — oxygen ions migrate through the electrolyte, oxidizing fuel at the anode. The same YSZ ceramic used in thermal barrier coatings powers the chemistry.
